・Dr. Koju Hiraki (Associate professor)

Our research topics vary quite widely, from reentry capsule to sports science. Among them, we place special emphasis on the development of an autonomous flight system using a small-size parafoil. We have attended ARLISS(A Rocket Launch for an International Student Satellite) since 2008 in order to prove the guiding capability of the flight system from high altitude in the U.S.
Between the laboratory members everybody should celebrate his own birthday by serving cakes or snacks to all.

Our research topics vary quite widely. For example, four photos are presented below to demonstrate our research activities.
Upper-left : Autonomous flight system with a small parafoil in flight
Upper-right : Four-winged micro ornithopter, inspired by a dragonfly
Lower-left : Flow visualization around a bumblebee
Lower-right: Schlieren visualization of a pitched baseball in gyro rotation
